Brittney and Marissa

Our guest readers today were Marissa and Brittney. They are high school cheerleaders.
They read King Bidgood's in the Bathtub. It's a funny story and the kids really enjoyed predicting what would happen next!

The boys in our class REALLY liked these two! They were showering them with compliments and hugs. Many of the boys told them they were cute or pretty. Tristen even told Brittney that her teeth were really white.

Lots of kids wrote them notes. Emaleigh's said, "I lick you." The girls understood that she meant "like"!

Brittney and Marissa were so sweet with all the kids and patiently answered their questions. They started with the same types of questions. "Who do you cheer for?" "Which high school?" Then they asked "What color are you?" This question surprised Brittney until I clarified, "What color are your uniforms?"

They signed autographs and posed for some pictures.

I was able to embarrass Marissa with pictures and even a video. I was Marissa's kindergarten teacher!! Now she's a senior.

Thanks Brittney and Marissa! We really enjoyed today.

Special Show and Tell

Mallorie brought a very special show and tell today...her sister!
The kids all loved her and told Mallorie that she was precious and adorable! I agree! Thank you Mallorie for sharing her with us!

Food For America

Our High School F.F.A hosted Food For America today. The children got to hear guest speakers and learn where our food comes from.
They also got tons of gifts!

We even got to sample some of the yummy food.

After the presentations we were able to go outside and see lots of animals.

What a neat day. Thanks F.F.A!

Memorizing Presidents

We've been memorizing presidents in our class. You can check out the "44 Presidents" link on the side to listen to the song we've been learning.

The kids told me some interesting facts about presidents. Some are true, some are not, and some are versions of the truth.

Emma says, "The brown president is on T.V. a lot."

Emaleigh says in a dramatic voice, "Abraham Lincoln just got shot watching a video with his wife! I don't know why anyone would want to shoot him in the back of the head!"

Tristen told us that someone robbed George Washington's house and then shot him in the stomach.

Regan says, "None of our presidents are from Wisconsin."

Alexis told us that George Washington cut down an apple tree.

Kennedy informed us that every president is the boss of the United States.

When we said that many of the presidents were dead, Chase said, "They're all not really dead they're just with Jesus."

Picture Day

Don't they all look cute? Most of them chose their own "modeling" pose. Even the boys!

Regan's Lost Tooth

After losing her tooth yesterday, Regan was inspired to bring a book called, "Big Shark's Lost Tooth" to read to us today.
She read a few pages as the class listened and I finished it for her. She did an excellent job and the class enjoyed the story.I love the way this class brings books to read the first month into first grade! They are challenging themselves and excited about learning new things.
This should be a fantastic year!
