Big Day for Wilson
Wilson made it to 100 AR points today! He chose to teach a lesson to the class. He called kids' names to play smartboard games. He was a good teacher. Congrats Wilson! 
Wilson Rocks!
Wilson's mom has been reading Harry Potter to him at home. Today he came in with the book, ready to take the AR test. The kids all huddled around him, excited to see if he would pass. It was worth a lot of points and had 20 questions (most of our books only have 5 questions).
He read the test all by himself. There were some very hard words but he cruised through!
He passed, 19/20!! He earned 32.5 points just for that one book! Everyone hugged him and said how proud they were of him. Tanner said excitedly, "This has to be the best day of your life!" Monday, April 4, 2011
100 POINTS!
Kennedy and Zane both made it to 100 AR points on Friday. As a reward they both chose to go to another class for a little while. 
Zane chose P.E. with Coach Fortner. Coach said Zane loved it and was very respectful.
Kennedy chose to go to Miss Anderson's class. Her brother Drew is in there. It just happens to be Drew's birthday today so she got to go to his party! 
I think Miss Anderson wanted to keep her. NO WAY!
She said she sat between her brother and my daughter, Zoe. I'm sure she fit right in being a 2nd grader!

I Want To Help, But I Have My Limits!
Katie's mom emailed me this story. It is so adorable!
We were watching Nickelodeon and they showed some pictures of Japan and asked if you wanted to help.. then get an adult and go to www...... (ect)... Katie turned to me and said we needed to help. Then she turned back to the TV and they were showing the pictures of all the water from the tsunami - she then looked back to me and said never mind.. I asked her why and she said because the water was too deep and she didn't know how to swim good enough... my sweet, sweet baby girl!

Happy Birthday Emma!
Top Readers
We had 5 kids who earned 50 points or more for the quarter. That's only 9 weeks! So they ate lunch with their favorite guest reader on Wednesday. Tanner did remind me that Wednesday is "chicken patty day" in the cafeteria so he opted for the tray instead of pizza. 
Tanner earned 69.8 for the quarter and read 143 books! He picked Jake, again, to eat with. 
Kennedy ate lunch with Jordan. She has 52 points and read 100 books! 
Mallorie ate with Elyssa. Mal has 67 points for the quarter and has read 144 books. 
Josh has read 128 books and has earned 59.3 points this quarter. He ate with Logan. 
Taigan really kicked it in gear. She earned 80.9 for the quarter and has read 174 books including some 3rd grade chapter books! She ate lunch with Taya. 
They enjoyed pizza and discussed different books they have read. 
The guests were so sweet with them and really talked to them and asked them questions. 
Even Taya told about a Junie B. Jones book that her parents are reading to her. 
I'm so glad they are motivated to read. I am really proud of them. Thank you guest readers for taking time to help us celebrate these great achievements! Wacky Word of the Week
Our school-wide Wacky Word of the Week is DESCRIBE.
Together we chose 10 people in our building to describe.
The kids worked in pairs and made illustrations of the people. They described what they looked like as they created their person.
Then they used 3 words to describe their person.
After we were finished we hung them outside their door.
Mrs. Blick, our counselor, was described as loving, helpful, and sweet.
Mrs. Lisa, our secretary and Mallorie's mom, is informative, athletic (because Mallorie told us she walks in the gym with Mrs. Autumn after school), and really cute. I agree!!
Mr. Leo, our custodian, is tidy, nice, and artistic (he draws the kids pictures a lot).
Nurse Katie is smart, caring, and helpful.
In fact, she is so caring some of us could see her everyday...even when we're not really sick!
